Fontana Arte
Fontana Arte is preparing to celebrate a milestone- almost a century of history. Originally named Luigi Fontana & C., was founded in 1881 for crystal and glass processing. In 1931, Gio Ponti became the new Art Director of Luigi Fontana. Only one year later, Ponti took over the company and rebranded it as “Fontana Arte.”
Ponti was well connected and began recruiting other artists to design for the company, some names include Sergio Asti, Max Ingrand, Gae Aulenti, Shigeru Ban, Vico Magistretti, Paola Navone, Karim Rashid and Ben Swildens among others.
Fontana Arte won the presitigous Compasso d'Oro award for creativity in 1998.
