Celebs & Iconic Design
It’s no surprise that celebrities have the ability to acquire some of the most rare and incredible pieces of design. We are thrilled to see faces we look up to, enjoying vintage design as much as we do. Let’s dive right in to celebs homes and photo shoots featuring some of our favorite vintage pieces.
Frank Ocean
Photographed above, Frank Ocean is enjoying an Ettore Sottsass ‘Elledue’ Bed designed in 1970. He is also photographed beside an ‘Élysée’ modular shelving system designed by Pierre Paulin circa 1967 along with a Pierre Paulin ‘Dune’ sofa designed in 1970. All of these pieces are extremely rare, the Sottsass ‘Elledue’ bed is no longer in production and only exists in very limited numbers. The Paulin ‘Dune’ sofa and the ‘Élysée’ bookshelf however, are still in production today.
Travis Scott
Travis Scott is seen here lounging on a Michel Ducaroy ‘Togo’ sofa designed in 1973. The Togo has been a hot and trending commodity for decades now. Learn more about the Togo here.
Scott is photographed jumping mid-air on a Rick Owens bed. He is also seen enjoying a ‘Soriana’ sofa designed by Italian couple Tobia & Afra Scarpa in 1969. Lastly, Travis is photographed lounging on a Pierre Paulin ‘Dune’ sofa designed in 1970.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé is photographed multiple times with the trendy ‘Terrazza’ sofa. First, for her Ivy Park collaboration with Adidas and secondly in a cool, casual environment. Maybe Queen B loves the design so much she brought it into one of her homes.
Virgil Abloh
Next up, we have Fashion powerhouse, Virgil Abloh photographed lounging on a Pierre Paulin ‘Pumpkin’ sofa designed in 1971 and surrounded by Pierre Paulin ‘Elysee’ floor lamps designed in 1972.
Rihanna
Bad Gal Riri is photographed posing on a Pierre Paulin ‘Déclive’ lounge chair designed in 1968 as well as a Pierre Paulin 8810 ‘Flower’ chair designed in 1973. She’s also seen photographed against a ‘Camaleonda’ by Mario Bellini designed in 1972.
Joey Bada$$
Joey Badass lounges on a ‘Dune’ sofa designed by Pierre Paulin in 1970 and a Joe Colombo ‘tube’ chair c. 1969. In the background is an ‘Umbo’ unit by Kay Leroy Ruggles c. 1970s and Gaetano Pesce ‘Triple Play’ tables, c. 1996.
Kanye West
Ye appears to be deep in thought while lounging on a ‘Butterfly’ chair designed by Pierre PAulin in 1963. This isn’t the only time Ye has been seen sporting Pierre Paulin. A video was released of Ye walking through a warehouse with a large ‘Dune’ sofa designed by Paulin in 1970.
Sharon Tate & Roman Polanski
Sharon Tate cuts Roman Polanski’s hair as he sits in a Pierre Paulin ‘Mushroom’ chair designed in 1960.
The Carters
In their music video, ‘Ape Shit’, the Carters are seen lounging on a Pierre Paulin ‘Borne Louvre’ modular sofa designed in 1968. This is an ultra rare design of Paulin’s and there is little information on it on the internet.
Kobe Bryant
The late basketball player is photographed lounging on a Barcelona chair by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, designed in 1929 for the Barcelona Pavilion. The barcelona collection has been highly-sought after since its inception resulting in mass re-productions.
Tyler The Creator
The fashion and music mogul, Tyler The Creator is photographed here lounging on a ‘Yeti’ rocking chair by Mario Scheinchenbauer, 1968. Iconic.
ASAP Rocky
Rapper ASAP Rocky is photographed standing next to a Gufram cactus Designed in 1972 by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello. The cactus is a part of the italian radical design movement. The bright and bold green color is the original while different color variations were released as special editions.
Pharell
Pharell Williams is an American record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and fashion designer so it makes sense that he has good taste in design as well - here he is enjoying his modular ‘Pool’ sofa by Luigi Colani, designed in 1971.
Lil Yachty
Lil Yachty first shared his ‘Living Tower’ (1969) by Danish designer Verner Panton on TikTok and later in different footage.
Selena Gomez
